found something 4 u

COOL genuine H&K 416 uber pistol grip

Uber expensive 11" OEM H&K handguards
Tikki,
I will consider it; it would probably save about $300 bucks or more. However, from what little has been released on the weapon that was actually used, the ones in the mission did have monolithic uppers. Trying for a balance between cost and configuration is tough.

I don't think hk has released any mono uppers, check their website

Some of the specific details of the configuration are not available, but I think I have enough to go on. Here will be some characteristics of the build:
1. Monolithic upper
2. Piston gas system
3. Adjustable buttstock
4. 16" barrel (I believe the Seals use a 14", but I don't want to fool with the ATF over a few inches)
7. Be able to reliably fire brass, steel, or blank ammo without fail.

My premise is you can build a very high quality AR that will hold up with the best in reliability without being in debt for the rest of your life.
subscribing to this thread. this sounds like an interesting build i'd like to follow along and learn about. very cool idea!

Sorry it is taking so long. I got my hands on a dark earth lower, and decided to make as much as I could dark earth to keep the rifle consistent. Waiting on MOE handguards, pistol grip, buttstock assembly and barrel to put together.

In case anyone is wondering, the upper is what is suppose to be a BCM Blemish but for the life of me, I can't find any faults with it.

Cool. I like it. Should be really sweet when you get it completed.

I was originally going to go with all black, but when I got the opportunity for the BCM upper for less than 100 bucks, I decided to go with dark earth color, which I am finding out is getting difficult to get all the components the same color. The brands that have them don't always use the same shade or number of coats of paint, and I am not going to screw up the "Shall not be infringed" on the upper, so it is getting left alone. I will probably end up getting a can of spray paint for the plastic parts in order to at least match them up.

In keeping with your original concept wouldn't it be better to at least go for a quad rail?
