For SHTF type stuff stay with m193 fmj. It's a good general use all purpose round that every AR will shoot reliably. It's not specialized for anything but that's the beauty of it. You have to consider that the rifle you have today is the one you scavage for after the zombies come. Jmho...ymmv.

I cannot refrain any longer.

55 gr fmj will defeat a windshield AND Kevlar. You don't need a "PILL" to do it.

Also, 100 yards isnt self defense. And I don't have to worry about 300 yard "snipers" accosting me as I go across the street to get the mail.

Shtf ISN'T self defense.

Well he said it was for shtf n e ways... I like to know my rounds have a little more kick behind them if they will save my life.

Ok bad example of self defense... My bad.. But if shtf and I'm sitting on my roof or in a window and someone walking down the street with another gun decides to take aim at me from a distance.. I'll blow his head off..

Then again.. Shtf we won't be needing to justify self defense n e ways!

Willfully, I highlighted a couple things from his post to point out his deficiencies. I think we all can see that he is inexperienced and see through his BS claims. He's doing the same crap on other threads as well.

Who the heck will be sitting on their roof in such a situation?

U have your facts and I have mine... Let's leave it at that cuz ur getting really ridiculous...

Dude you crack me up.. I love it. I am so tired of hearing the same old crap of when the shtf I am going to sit on my roof and take head shots all day. The only shtf situation that would almost be logical is in a zombie apocalypse (fiction). Now myself and my family prepare for a REAL shtf situation like a complete econimic collapse (non-fiction).

Unfortunately, most 9mm and .45 acp ammo will penetrate more interior walls than M193. 5.56 M193 55gr fmj travels so fast that it begins to fragment (break apart) and usually doesn't penetrate as far as 9mm and .45 does. The only downside of 5.56 for interior work is that its is alot louder, but some electronic ear muffs by the bedside solves that.
