Yeah I have a hard time with optics. I always look at them and say to myself I can buy another gun for that price and end up getting some $100 pos. I will spring for at a minimum the eotech when I get my spikes.

I have never spent more than $700 or $800 on an optic and mount but know of many that do. When you boil it down it doesn't make much sense to spend a bunch of money on a quality firearm then cripple it w/ a POS optic.

Back to the original topic. I have heard a lot of optimistic feedback on Windham (sp). If every AR manufacturer would follow BCMs lead it would clear up a lot of the "good or not" talk. Give a few ARs to a well known carbine instructor to use in there classes. Real world speaks louder than internet "mines better than yours."

The thing that bothers me is why pay $850 for something that's fairly unknown when you could get a PSA or Spikes configured the same for around the same money or kick in another $100 for a BCM (which is what I did). It would be a nice feel-good story if Windham is a success but I'd rather go with a known product.

Spikes makes a good AR. Some have turned the other cheek for their price gouging just before and after the last election.

Yep, that's your personal opinion. Don't forget that Windham's specs are nothing special.

If Windham is like the old Bushmaster as they claim to be you're likely to see non-mil spec components such as commercial diameter receiver extensions, commercial height sights, BCGs, barrels, etc. Compare that to Spikes and PSA in the same price range.

Hey no one's saying you have a crap gun just that there are better known choices. I have an ArmaLite, it's a decent AR but that's all, there are better choices today which is why you don't see me touting it to new AR buyers.
