I've been looking around the Web for upper and lower AR recievers and guess what, there aren't very many left!! Most sites are sold out and the only ones left are the very expensive. Barrels and other associated parts are getting pretty scarce as well. Looks like the manufacturers weren't watching the elections and couldn't for see the increased demand. Anyone know of a source that has these in stock or do you think we're all waiting 3 - 5 months for Rock River Arms, DPMS and the rest to get them back in production. I'd really like to build an AR but right now the build price is currently looking like over $1300 due to demand! __________________ Molon Labe!

Brother, I have been preaching about this for months. 4 months before the election RRA was something like 8,500 guns, complete units, BEHIND in production. Olympic Arms, which is a local company here, has Mandatory Overtime going and has for months now. For awhile they tried running three shifts but that didn't work out.
I was the range over the weekend and a guy was looking at buying a "built" gun from the shop I was at. 6.8 SPC, no name receiver with a free float tube, collapsible stock and a RRA 2 stage NM trigger. The shop was asking $2,195! The guy offered them $2K cash and they turned him down.
I pulled the guy aside on his way out the door and told him to look us up here, that he could build one for half what they were asking. Maybe he's here lurking right now.
Your best bet is to keep beating the internet bushes until you find a place with little backlog and get in line......

I'm sure it will be tight for some time. I just picked up a DPMS stripped lower so I could start a build. I'm not in a hurry so hopefully the "panic" buying will subside and the manufacturers will be able to get caught up.
***fingers crossed*** |

Amen...to that. I posted a few links to check out before the election, and even a few afterwards that still had stock and decent ship dates and prices. You might try searching back a few posts for the links.
Other than that, it is as you say, pretty much hit or miss, and even when you do hit a site that has something, as you've found out - sadly, some are taking advantage of CAPITALISM
But then again, do you blame them? We all sat around fat and happy when there was no ban and lots of stock to choose from. A bit spoiled ya think?
Even when the candidates were still running, the alarm should have gone off in most of our heads. Sure a few thought no way, the ban is over, no sweat, no worries And then the unthinkable happened (well, at least for those who thought no way could he win) and the ban threat reared it's ugly head. PANIC buying started and got constantly worse. On the flip side, what an instant boom to the economy - at least for the gun and ammo manufacturers.
Now, you can still find the parts, but you'll have to do a bit of searching, and finger crossing. I was able to pick up some mags recently, and that was even after everyone seemingly picked through every nook and cranny buying everything and anything in sight. Parts kits, receivers, etc. will be a bit more challenging, but the most challenging of all seems to be -----BARRELS. From all the distributors I've talked to recently, they are sitting pretty well on the parts, they just can't get barrels fast enough to fill all the orders, not just for complete guns, but upper assemblies, etc. So learn from what you finding out now, do the extra searching, maybe stray from all the major sites, and do some searching for the lesser known ones. Sure it's a gamble, but it may pay off if you find what you are seeking. When you do find your parts, you may want to consider picking up a spare or two, depending on what you think you might need, and please...feel free to share the find with the rest here. At this point...we're pretty much all in the same boat.

Well, I have decided not to mope around about it any longer. I finally got enough scratch together to get both a completed upper and a stripped lower from Del-Ton Inc. on back order. Sure it may take 8 to 16 weeks, but considering the economy tanking, BO's ridiculous choices for his cabinet, and the piss-poor plans he would like to have put into effect once he is in office has kept me sane enough to know that I should get my EBR before the zombies come. |

Del-Ton Inc. seems to be one of the only places to get upper and lower receivers, and some great gun kits at reasonable prices too...just add a stripped lower and you're good to go! Right now, they'd be my pick too. __________________ Molon Labe!

Again, I'll throw in a couple links for a site that has been very good about getting the parts, keeping prices reasonable, and shipping in timely manner. The best part is...if you search their site, what you see....is IN-STOCK! So you don't have to waste time waiting to hear if and when they are going to ship.
lower receiver link
upper receiver link
Not to mention...if you act quick, they do have complete uppers and lowers IN STOCK.

If anyone wonders about PK's service, I'll vouch. Even during this "crisis" time, they delivered two orders to me...fast.
Who knows if lower prices will come back down, but that link is a good one to reflect on how just a few months ago, prices were $125 for stripped and $290 complete. Now it's $165 (ugh!) and $375 (ouch!) |

No prob, JD.
You'd think by now with all the props I've been giving some of these links, they'd jump at the chance to sponsor the site. Hmmmm....
But I too have had great luck and service with PK, and will continue to do service with them, or at least while supplies last
