First, let me preface this by stating that I have a healthy supply of new/barely used mags.
With that in mind, I would contemplate paying:
$12-18: USGI type aluminum mags, Tapco mags (they're solid)
$12-20: PMags, Troy Mags, TangoDown ARC
$16-26: PMags (windowed), Lancers
These are all good mags in 20rd or 30rd varieties. I actually bought a Surefire 60rd mag for $99 recently...just for the heck of it, and because that was also the pre-hysteria price. It's just sort of something I'll have, just "to have".
Mags are extremely difficult to come by at the moment, and the demand situation will probably result in a permanent price increase. When everyone is fighting to be the first to give you their money, you typically respond by raising your prices. But that doesn't mean you have to buy off-brands or spend $60-80/per on GunBroker. I'd suggest getting on some waiting lists for popular, appropriately priced, and proven mags. Maybe you'll have to wait 6 days, maybe 6 months...but I think that advice will serve you better than making a "get it now" purchase that you'll later regret. Some of the hysteria buyers are bound to feel okay about their purchases down the road. But many will likely be staring at equipment that would have been available for 20-50% of the price they paid had they simply waited a few months.
Just my opinion.
