Obviously, Colt is the best, since I have two, and I'm saving for a third!

My take on all this is as follows. You can call it my new stand on the topic.

There is a definite difference in quality from "level" to "level". But, yes the big but(t), what's important is getting the most quality w/i ones budget. Most of the time all that separates one level of quality from the next level up is $100-$200. This is where the buyer needs to decide if they want to wait that extra couple of weeks to save up the difference. My experience is that extra couple of weeks is well worth it.

If you don't mind doing a little more research, and more hands on work, you should look into building your own. I'm working on building my first AR right now, and so far I've had fun just researching what I want. The best thing about doing it this way is that the rifle will be custom made just for you. I'm going with a BCM upper, PSA stripped lower, and RRA lower parts kit and trigger.
Just pointing out that building your own is always an option. There is nothing wrong with buying a complete one.
