What makes a SPR a SPR........
Hey guys, planning a new build, and was just wondering what really makes an SPR an SPR? I mean I get that its accurrized for the designated LD hitter, but does it come in 18" 20" 16" or what? Are they always stainless barrels? 1x8 or 1x7 twist? Is there a form I need to follow? Should I just make an 18" precision oriented build? What types of optics are they usually outfitted with? Are gripods mandatory or passe?

BTW I plan to use this for shooting 400 to 600 yards. Hopefully longer if I can find a range long enough >.<

I have been saving up for some reloading equipment, but haven't made the plunge yet. (this build comes after my reloading setup)

It depends on who you ask. Some will say it has to be assembled by one or two specific guy w/ a very strict set of parts while some will say it's all in the barrel. Personally I think it's an AR w/ a 18" SPR profile barrel, magnified optic, and rifle length gas and buffer system.

Its a special purpose rifle, you define what you're going to build based on what you plan on doing with it.
