dude that thing has to be like 11-12 lbs by now your best bet by far is to set up that rifle for one role then wait one week for BRD to take effect and then build another one suited to a different role then rinse and repeat. From what I am seeing there is just way too much going on there man and the more complicated it looks the harder it gets to operate properly.

yeah probably on a bench at the range try taking it on a cqb run and your arms would be rubber I understand what your going for there by having a multi mission capable weapon system trust me its been tried thats why manufacturers are coming out with new rifles with easy caliber swaps that can be done in minutes to completely change the role of the rifle.

Alright dude all im saying is listen I am a combat vet (OIF 1-2) I had to carry an m4 with all sorts of bells and whistles on it and you know what it made me appreciate the less is more concept better. The only thing I actually used on there was my light and my sights and on one occasion my PEQ IR Laser all the other hooah stuff is just that stuff and stuff adds weight and weight is your enemy if your going to be in a strenuous drawn out situation carrying 11 lbs around. Trust me I had to hump around 3 weapons most of the time it is no fun. I am trying to advise you to stick to one role per rifle its not a swiss army gun one role will allow you to maximize efficiency in that area whereas trying to do it all will make it mediocre at best.

As right as you may be about that, I don't plan on being in any drawn out battles anytime soon with it. It's my varmint gun (yotes, groundhogs, foxes). So I don't want to miss a close up shot because my minimum magnification is 3. I want need it as a dual purpose long and short range gun.

I am also an iraq vet. I was a scout sniper and carried the mk 12 around full time. I also carried a m40a5. Sure the rifle he has maybe a little on the heavy side but it can be a great dual purpose rifle. I don't believe he is trying to make a "swiss army" rifle. Just a mk12 clone. No need for ragging on a civi for his version of a rifle.

If you're comfortable with it and it serves your purposes then your rifle is just fine. You don't have to justify a thing to any of us.

I ran into the problem when deer hunting on my shotgun where I was field hunting and couldn't line up the shot because the scope was too magnified. I'm trying to combat that problem on my new gun. Unless there's an easier way, I'm open to suggestions.
