Being that this build is really starting to come together and knowing that the NEA Compact Carbine Stock is ordered with no definite eta, I knew I had to find a suitable temporary stock for this rifle. I mean I know that I do not have the patience to assemble everything short of the stock and not be able to shoot it. So I found a suitable replacement that I already hade. A flat dark earth Magpul CTR stock that had been replaced on my Rock River by a UBR. Now if it were black I would have no problem just putting it on the receiver as is. But...... the flat dark earth really clashes with the burnt bronze and Black furniture I am using. So I decided to use this as a learning opportunity and use it for my first cerakote/polymer coating.

I fully disassembled the CTR and sandblasted the parts to give the cerakote a good bonding surface. I am really pleased with the end results!!!
Damn man that rifle is nice I'm so jealous lol

You will love it! The build I just completed today has one.

I went with the 10.25" one and sandblasted off the anodizing and Cerakoted it Burnt Bronze.

It is the most comfortable hand guard I have ever held on an AR. And it is less than half the price of the carbon fiber Lancer LCH5 I used on my last build.

I would agree that you need to get an upper and get that thing together ASAP!

got a 40rnd Magpul P-mag gen3

Also got the magpul angled foregrip (AFG2) on top the 10 slot moe rail piece ...i really like the way it feels. You can get alot of control of the front end with it. I took it to the range today and did 100yds standing up much better than a vertical foregrip. Even with a vfg I usually would use half of it and part of the rail at the same time whch is pretty much the same angle the afg sets your hand up... i like it

I like the look a lot. Just hope I didn't go to long.
Can't wait to actually mount it and get a real feel.

As for getting the upper ASAP.... Hopefully my wife gets all the not so subtle hints I have been giving her for Xmas gifts
