You only have to "pin and weld" it if it's less than 16" without it...
And if so, there isn't legal way around it..

It has to be "permanently attached" to get up to 16"...

But if you start with a 16" barrel you can attach whatever you want in the end without "pin and welding" it

Can't go wrong with a Bushnell Banner for that price. I've got one on my AR, and I like it.

Deer, and then some night hog hunts after deer season. I'm open to options but I can't get anything outside of that price range.

I wish that was true..... If it is a threaded end, and can take a flash suppressor, it is illegal in NJ no matter the length. That's why I wanted to with a post-ban barrel and a clamp on...

Well the Tasco 6-24 Varmint would be a lot of scope for deer hunting, and could get kind of dark fro any low light hog hunting. Plus it's kind of a big beasty for walking around with all day. Great as an inexpensive varmint scope, but I wouldn't use it as a deer or hog scope. I just took one off of an AR and replaced it with a Nikon Buck Master that I got in a trade. I may have some other scopes in a 3-9 or even 4x taht would get you through the season and they would be at bargain basement prices to help a hunter out (read that as under your proposed budget).

I'll check what I have on hand when I get home today and PM you with what I have available.

I figured the 24X would be good for squirrels next season, and for turtles at Dads house year round (pesky varmints eat all of our fish) and the mildot + some match rounds would let me start practicing some long range shooting a little more seriously. But I'm DEFINITELY open to other options.

I'm buying some see through Leupold scope rings and I trust the zero on my open sights for up close shooting.
