What ammo for 1:7 chrome lined 16"
I'm looking for advice on which ammo to try in my AR. It has a 16" 1:7 chrome lined barrel. The previous owner put 60rds through it and told me it likes 62grain ammo, but with only 60rds downrange......
I know the 1:7 is for heavier loads, but what is considered heavy, 62gr 69gr??
I'll be shooting from 50-100yards. 100yards is the max range where I shoot until I go out to the woods.
Another question. Where do you buy bulk ammo online?

I believe 1:7 would take amost all type of ammo weight but preferred heavier load like 62+. Or I would hope so because I won't be able to afford 69gr + ammo all the time lol. 55gr and 62gr are affordable with Federal and PMC.

Generally speaking anything 55gr and up should be ok. The shorter barrel may allow you to go lighter with some of the so-called ballistic tip varmint rounds but I personally see little benefit to the added cost.
62gr green tip ammo seems to be readily available at good prices and that gun should be damn near perfect for 'em
Good luck and have fun with your new SUR.

Any damn thing you want to shoot. It's a chrome barrel! 55 grain and up should do splendad at the yardage you are referring too.

Ok, thanks for the tips. I'm going to try a few different ones and see how it goes.
Wish I had a longer range to shoot at.
