Default Uppers and lowers

If I buy a Remington R_15 chambered in .30 AR. Will I be able to mount additional uppers on this firearm in other calibers? Or is the receiver .30 AR specific?

No it's not. With the exception of pistol calibers (they require mag adapters and special hammers) you should be able to mount any upper designed to work with the AR platfomr.
