What's your preferred upper vice block for safely securing your uppers in a vice for work? Ready to finish my upper and forgot to order the block... Want to get it ordered, thank you for your input.

This is the one you need. I use it every day and it's held up through several dozen rifles.

The clamshell is good for mil-spec uppers only, for example my Vltor Mur upper would not fit and I know a few of the billet uppers with some cosmetic mods will not fit.

I have a carpenters vise I picked up at home depot for $25. It never scratches anything I put in it. I have built two AR 15 rifles using it. A neighbor built an AR using it. It also holds shotguns and pistols. In fact, for pistols it works just as good as any frame vise I have used in a gun shop.
