Default Upgrades for my two Builds

Yesterday I got my CTR and tall scope mounts so did some tweaking...

So here they are all decked out for Spring:

Daniel Defense/S&W with CTR left

Dan Wesson with CTR right (needs more thought on the sling...)

ArmaLite M15A4 with Nikon 3-9x40 left

I need to weigh it on an accurate scale but I'm pretty sure it comes in at 6.5lb without a magazine. Configured the same the ArmaLite comes in at about 7.5 due to about 15 extra ounces for the HBAR.

Yeah there's a world of difference how these two ARs handle. A lot of weight out front on the ArmaLite.

I'm sure you love your DD build too, mjkeat. You got the same upper then went with the LW rails didn't you?

I'm really liking your DD.

I went 14.5 w/ M4 RIS II. I was going to do the mid MOE but cant seem to part w/ the DD rail. I really enjoy it. Its now my favorite. Its kind of depressing considering the piston gun was the king of the closet and has been over taken by something half its price, lol. I'm tempted to sell it and pick up another DD. However, it was my first so it'll stay.

Id recommend the BC 1.0 for your 16. Its a lot of money but well worth it. I struggled w/ the decision and couldn't be happier. Did a little side by side w/ a PWS FSC556 and it doesn't even compare. BC hands down, even on the lighter weapon it outperformed the PWS comp.

Thanks, mjkeat. I really labored over 16 vs. 14.5" and whether I should go with a lightweight rail. Very tough decisions and no easy answers as you know. At least the lightweight profile was a no brainer for me after having the heavy barreled first AR. Thought about the govt profile but can't see any benefit at least for my application.

The BC is something I need to think about more. At least it's an easy install with the 16" barrel so there's no roadblock to derail me.

I imagine our two rifles compare well, similar weight and handling. Very glad that Smartgunner had that deal last year anyway! I need to track down your thread on your DD and take another look.

I dont think I even made a thread on the DD. Ill check and if not Ill do a build thread. There might be some interest.

Now that Ive gone back to school theres no way I would have been able to get the DD w/o the SG sale.
