No one has ever had a DoubleStar? I swear I think I'm the only one. My Star15 is as good as any AR I've shot, built, or owned. Admittedly it's nothing special. Just a carry handle M4gery but it shoots really well. I am thinking about DSC Super Match some time down the road.

BTW..DSC has been selling parts to many of the bigger names for years under the name of their parent company J&T Distributing.

Typical .308 AR's are larger and heavier then 5.56mm AR's and are not interchangeable in parts. But, 6.5mm AR's often only differ in the upper reciever and attached parts, but the lower receiver and magazine are interchangeable with standard AR 15's. So you get the advantages of a larger and harder hitting round while keeping the size and weight of the original AR 15. Magazine capacity is negatively affected of course, since you're using larger rounds, but I believe they're supposed to be completely compatible. Recoil is significantly more noticeable as a side effect of the larger round in a smaller rifle, but is a fair trade off in my book. It's not unbearable at all, just a bit rougher then a 5.56mm kick. Throw a nice rubber pad on the stock and you're good to go.

Edit: I hope I'm not confusing 6.5mm with 6.8 grendal that is compatible with standard lowers and magazines. If somebody here can confirm or deny which one is correct, I'd appreciate the help.
6.5 grendel AR only requires a different barrel and bolt than the 5.56 AR and the same goes for the 6.8 SPC. 6.5 and 6.8 can use 5.56 mags but are not always 100% reliable. As you stated the capasity of a 5.56 mag is neg affected when loading the larger 6.5 or 6.8 rounds into them. Both 6.8 and 6.5 weigh more then the 5.56 but I couldnt tell you exactly how much. THe 6.8 is better suited in shorter length barrels and the 6.5 longer barrels.

What I dont understand is some of the best brands on the market such as LMT, Noveske, BCM, Colt, KAC, POF, LWRC to name a few seem to be way underrated. Im no longer in the biz of carrying a rifle but I would venture to guess some of the guys who do would be even more shocked at this poll than I. Im not knocking any of the other brands just curious as to the position (hobby shooters, door kickers, ?) of the people participating in this poll.

Now keep in mind, this poll is still in a majorly early state, and should be taken with gratuitous salt amounts until we reach the 1000th vote at which point I would consider it somewhat indicative of a broad enough group to give some reliable results. Would you like me to add in a vote of your choice? Just sound off with what you want and I can add it into the main tally list. I've been adding in votes to this poll from 2 other forums and Facebook's AR15 page so far.

I like Del-ton. Quality kits and rifles, Friendly customer service, Quick Shipping, and all at a pretty awesome price. I built my Ar15 with an A2 style upper, seeing as its my first AR I didnt want to go over board incase I didnt care for it, but I do! If I ever decide to build another AR I'm gonna get their M4 style kit, a nice little flat top carbine would be fun.

They also send you a pretty awesome catalog when you order from them.

So yeah I cast my Vote for Del-ton
