Troubles With BUIS
I am VERY MUCH a newbie with my AR so any help is appreciated...

I recently received a set of BUIS from a friend for my birthday. Both rear and front sights are fine, however the front sight seems to be a tad taller.

This is what my friend bought me.

I wish it was as simple as adjusting the elevation but in order to get what I need, I would have to lower the sight post so the tip is flush with the base.

The way I came to that conclusion is by looking down my barrel, and then my sights and I saw a huge difference. This was at a distance of about 15 feet.

Thanks for the replies,

Have you shot it yet?

No not yet. That is coming up this Sunday. I plan on bringing with me a 25 yard zero in target.

25 yards? Its a rifle son.

Don't go fixing a problem until you have one.

Let us know how the shoot goes.

I figure you're just giving him a hard time but I rarely shoot 5.56x45 over 25yds myself. It would be a waste for me. If I ever find myself in a possition that I need to use my rifle it would be closer to that range. If the intended target is at 100 or more chances are I'll just keep moving. Now the 300blk is a different story.

I pulled out a set of Magpul MBUS and they are offset quite a bit as well. The rear hole is much higher than the front post. Sounds like you'll be ok like Cane mentioned.

I have never taken the time to look. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Edit: try moving your rear sight further rearward for a longer sight radious. Plus it looks better :)

Only problem would be if the front sight is meant to be mounted on a railed gas block - then it could be too tall. You should be able to look up the model number to make sure. I saw the review on Amazon and it mentioned being mounted on an ArmaLite which makes me think railed gas block.

If when you shoot it, the front post is still a little high, you can turn the post counter clockwise to lower it into the proper spot as well

very true and you can always take a little off the top of the post.
