So I'm going to lgs to purchase a stripped lower, gotta start somewhere. They have a Noveske N4 in stock for $179. I know that there are probably cheaper lowers just as good, but I'm thinking long term value is probably better with the Noveske. Is there any downside to this lower, maybe incompatibility issues?

I prefer to buy quality anything, I've learned my lesson going cheap many times. I figure a piece or two a month and I'll have a very nice rifle.

The more I think of it, it's a good idea I suppose doing a piece at a time. I am glad I went full rifle to start but I think I might have to go the other way for a second piece, build it out. I would love to go .308 if that is a possibility?


What barrel are you going with? Have you decided on one yet and are you going for a match barrel? Do you think you will buy a built upper or piecemeal that out as well?

I'm not sure what I plan yet, thinking either DD or Noveske complete upper. The DD I can get with BCG, sights and free float for around 800. The Noveske for the same price has a fixed front sight and furniture not quite as "cool" looking. I have a while to think about it, doubt I'll have the money until tax time anyway. Until then I can piece together the rest of my lower. I really need to stay off the interwebs though, I really don't know what the heck I'm doing other than dreaming big :-P

Nice lower! I'd go ahead and buy a good LPK next then the stock kit you want so the lower is done and can be tested (with a friend' upper). Then concentrate on the upper. Might as well catch possible problems right now in the lower half.

Doing a build over time is a great way to go, BTW. You'll likely put more money in it but have a better rifle.

Well damn, just found a place where I can get a complete DPMS starting at $600!!! Think the Noveske may turn into the long term project after I grab a DPMS.
