Default Today is the day

So I've been reading all the discussions on different types of ARs and what is good and bad about them for at least the past 4 months. I believe I've read every thread in this section and while at first alot of the terms had me confused I've finally settled on what I believe is a great first AR. I seriously considered building my first(u know JD can be very convincing in his arguments) but working 65 hours a week I barely have time to get to the range anymore, and I feel like I'm getting a pretty decent price from my local range. I'm going with a Panther arms Panther Bull sweet 16
Online Store — DPMS: AR-15 Rifles, Parts and Accessories. and the member range price is 820.00. I'm not sure how long it will take to arrive, but DPMS has them in stock. As soon as she gets her I will definitely post some pics. I went with the flat top and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on a quality scope that wont break the bank.

Nice choice and a very good gun. Looking forward to hearing your impressions of it once you get it to the range. Welcome to the SUR Club!

Now thats what I like to hear, some approval from JD! So JD, I've gotta get a scope, and I hoping to be able to do some competition with it in the future, after my wife finishes school, and I'd like to be accurate out to about 200-250 yards, my budget for the scope is $200, but I might be able to squeeze 350 if i wait another month. What would you recommend?

Huh. Chambered in .223?? I thought pretty much every AR out there was 5.56 these days. NBD, probably.

Anyway, that's a nice rifle! Enjoy!

Yep, I believe all of DPMS uppers in the 5.56/.223 class, the bull barrels are all chambered in .223.

So, jwhirl - keep that in mind when you buy ammo to shoot thru your new piece. ONLY fire .223 rounds through it - to be safe.

I have that same upper, in the 20" barrel. Don't know if it would have mattered either way, but I broke it in per DPMS's instructions, and it will deliver sub-MOA accuracy all day long.
