If your rifle is only rated for .223, DO NOT USE 5.56

There are tons of websites to explain why.
Just don't do it.

Make sure your chamber and barrel are marked 5.56 and there will be no worries.
Please quote the websites that show why not to use 5.56 in a .223 Wylde.

If no-one could/did shoot 5.56 in the .223 Wylde it would make no sense to chamber a precision upper in .223 Wylde right?

Why not chamber in straight .223 to keep the dimensions as tight as possible for maximum precision?

Does anyone here shoot 5.56 from your .223 Wylde?

.223 is not the same as .223 wylde.

They are two complete different chamber designs.

5.56 nato is still popular because it can perform acurrately enough to meet mil specs while being more tolorent to dirt, dust, carbon buildup and sand.

Understood.

The comment from bige was that he was skeptical of shooting 5.56 from a .223 Wylde and Mudpupp responded- don't be skeptical, just don't do it. Maybe Mudpupp didn't realize bige was referring to the .223 Wylde???

+1

Flip a coin and pick one. Then just find one on sale and in stock.
