I have the 450 and it kicks a$$. Also very, very accurate (1 hole at 100) Parts are parts with one exception, the trigger, get a goog one. I use JP. Also a slip on limb saver recoil pad will make it feel like a .223.

Default done some more research

well i did some more research and soul searching and i think I will stick with the 450 for this build. ballistics performance consistently edge .458 out (just barely) and the ammo is cheaper, which i find weird because the only companies making the loads are hornady and remington and the .458 is made by more companies but still more expensive. the only mod that the 10 rd magazine will need to properly feed the 450 is a single stack follower. the 458 is an awesome round but with the research i did and my own preferences i think it'll be the 450 bm for me.

Another consideration is reloading. The 450 is a straight wall (pistol style) case and is much less prone to stretching like the bottleneck (458) type. So you'll get more life from your brass.

It also uses 451.

The socom quickly outstrips the 450 in hitting power when you go to larger bullets.

Default remington 450

@ Canebrake if I read your thread right . My remington R15 450 lower wont be compatable with a 223 upper cause of the buffer spring? Is this right. The 450 is a great bear gun and was thinking of getting a new upper in 223 for a cheaper plinker. Or am I just wasting my money?

Not to derail, but has anyone tried a Wilson Combat 458 SOCOM upper? Wilson and Teppo Jutsu supposedly teamed up and Wilson is building 458 SOCOM uppers with Teppo Jutsu barrels and bolts.

Last I checked on the 458ssocomforum Marty is out of country. I was under the impression that SBR was taking over the manufacturing duties as well as providing ammo?

to the OP, my vote goes for an AR458
