starting my first build

I'm starting my first build. I bought a Franklin Armory complete lower and I just ordered a 20inch gun kit from Rguns. They said it would take 4 weeks to recieve the parts after I purchased it. There wasn't alot of information on this kit. It doesn't even give the rifling twist on the barrel. But this is my first build so I didn't want to go all out with expensive parts. I figured with the prices coming down I can upgrade the upper laterand all I would have to do is buy an inexpensive lower reciever to put these parts on and have another gun to tinker with. Has anyone bought a gun kit from Rguns and does anyone have a clue what the rifling might be on a 20 inch barrel.

I betcha it will punch nice round holes in paper when you get it put together.

Enjoy your soon to be new SUR. Be sure you get vaccinated for BRD.

Here is my Rguns lower:Attachment 103757

I ordered a matching Rguns upper. I've been waiting 5 weeks now. It said it was 'in stock' as well. From what I hear I might be waiting another 3 to 4. My point, welcome to the waiting game. Don't call Rguns either, they hate that and will insult you.

Yea I have been reading online aboutthe wait time and not answering email and such. But you know what. If it takes that long thats fine cause July and August are just too hot to be outside shooting. So I plan on those months ro do the build. Plus this gives me some time to look up some good scopes for it and find some ammo. I just hope the upper part is decent. I'm not expecting the best.

Having a complete lower maybe it's best to cancel this rifle kit order with unknown specs from an unhelpful vendor. You just need an upper so I'd watch PSA and BCM for uppers in the configuration you really want.

No, I'm going to keep my order with them. Its a family business and I know how frustrating it can be especially in times like this. If and when I get my parts from them if I'm not satisfied with what I get then I will be on the bandwagon like everyone else. $540.00 for a complete gun package minus lower reciever I'm not expecting too much.

Is the Franklin lower you bought stripped or complete, OP refers to complete. How much did you spend on this lower? If stripped, $100, $120, more?

If complete, $200, $250?

Crazycastor 06-02-2013 08:52 PM

It was complete with but stock and all. I paid just over $300 for it. Yea it was put together too. I don't know if I over paid or not for the lower. I talked to some guys and they said I did ok with going with Franklin armory lowers. They didn't say if it was good or bad price for what I paid for it.
