I was wondering If any one has used this buffer tube kit from aimsurplus.com. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XDSABK&name=DSA+Complete+Buffer+ Tube+kit&groupid=57
My main question is about the buffer; has anyone used it and how the recoil feels with it or should I go with a heavier buffer.

I'd make sure it was mil-spec. It is sold out however.

The best way to find out what will work is by using it. An H2 is a fairly safe bet.

Choose Milspec over commercial, the best deals are from DSG Arms, when you get the stock and Buffer assembly (tube, buffer, spring, castle nut and end plate) packages.

I chose this one because it was mil-spec. I'm not in a hurry to get it because I'm waiting to pay off the upper I put on layaway.

I bought the magpul stock kit from dsgarms.com.
It on back order but once I get that and pay off the upper the build will be pretty much done. I have a rear sight from a M&P 15-22 that I dont use.

Here is the total build cost and once it's done I think it will be a pretty nice rifle.

Spikes lower receiver: $110

S&W MP 15 16" 5.56 complete upper:
(used upper but after inspection it has never been shot or shot a few time). $440

CMMG lower parts kit: $58

Magpul stock milspec kit(buffer, buffer tube, spring, castle nut, latch plate). Shipped $85

5 polymer magazines. $30

For a total of $723 I think I'm going to have a pretty solid build. I hope all performs well. But for that price you can buy a decent rifle. But now I have what I want and I will know my rifle inside and out. I know I'll add extras later. I thanks you guys for the help and will keep you updated further after I piece it together with pics and a range report to follow.

If there are any other suggestions I'm all ears because I'm still a newbie in the AR world. Thanks for your help guys.

So I know I'll get some reducible but I helped a buddy out and sold him my spikes lower receiver for a profit of $10. I'll try and find another at my local gun and pawn who have them at the same price as I paid for mine. This way now I can pay off my upper faster.
