Yeah. I also went to Spikes tactical and they have a back order on all of their uppers. Apparently they can't keep up with demand and have no time frame on when they will be available. I like the BCM upper a lot but with the bolt carrier group and charging handle I'm looking at like $650.

I'm curious of your guys opinions on the 16" barrel vs the 14.5" barrel.

I honestly don't know why they can't pick up production. Others do it.

I like 14.5 w/ pinned BC but 16's are easier.

Unless you through the NFA paperwork, an muzzle device has to be pinned and welded in order to make the barrel 16.1" in length where as the 16 barrel does not, allowing you to change comps/flash hiders at will.

That's a big part of it. I like to change rails as "better" ones come out. Until recently it took some real searching to find one that would work w/ a stock barrel nut.

I would go with BCM or G&R Tactical. JMHO.
14.5" pinned flashider BCM upper is a really good upper.

I went 14.7 on my first and the more I got into it the more I wished it had a removable muzzle device. I've since obtained a couple more 14.5s as I prefer them now that I have a better feel for what's better for me.

Oh ok I new there was a minimum barrel length for a rifle but i thought it was 14.5. So I'll go with the 16" one then.

14.5 is legal as long as your brake or flash hider is 1.5" long and pinned and welded so it is considered permanent. Barrel has to be 16" to be legal. I prefer a 16" barrel so I can just use a thread protecter while not suppressed and you can change from brakes to flash hiders. Once something is pinned and welded, your pretty much stuck with it.

Went to a local gun and pawn today. They had a complete S&W 16" upper used for 500. So I got him down to 440 and also purchased a CMMG lower assembly with a trigger an all that for 60.

Now I just need the buffer tube and stock.

...I hope my wife doesn't kill me.
