My little bundle of joy only ran me a grand. its a rra lar15 with a 2 stage trigger chrome lined houge grip moe hand guard afg rear buis Midwest front buis. The rifle was under 800. I can't be happier. I went to 5 gun shows and talked to everyone, till I found a good brand with the price I wanted.

Sorry I wrote this on my break. So the rest of the my story is that I originally wanted a stag model 3. I found it for 650 new. But the next table over had the rr for 750 with the trigger I wanted and was chrome lined. So moral of the story keep looking and don't limit your self by brand

I would just keep looking around until you find something you like in your price range I would take either and be happy but in that $800-1000 range there are better options IMHO . Ever think about putting your own together , its really not that hard and so long as you get a complete upper thats already built it only takes basic tools to assemble the lower . I built this one for $557 shipped just as it sits . that sure would leave you alot to pic a decent optic or red dot . Now everyone raves on the eotechs and the aimpoints , they are great optics but Vortex optics are great also and they have a lifetime warranty wether your the original owner or the 5th owner . It is also waterproof to 49 ft. Please dont ask me how I know this its a long story .

Between the 2, go with the one with the best warranty as IMO they're both equal quality-wise. Not sure of Windam's warranty but Stag's is lifetime...

I went to PSA and built this very gun off their page right down to everything thats pictured so it would only be shipping from one place , its not as good of deals as I found other places but I was trying to make it easy $1030.94 The only thing you would have to do is cut down the front sight to fit under the handguard and thats exactly what I did .

I shopped around and got most of the stuff either with cheap or free shipping and paid $946.80 shipped to my door .
Believe it or not you would be surprised how far $1000 will take you if you do your research and shop around

I have two Vortex Strikefires and am quite happy with them. Both ordered from PSA. One was $119.99 (on sale) delivered. The other was $169 in one of PSA's package deals that included a Magpul rear MBUS. I'd also like to try the Vortex Sparc, but they were sold out when I was in the market.

Maybe the $400-600 Aimpoints and Eotechs are vastly superior to Vortex. But probably (I'm guessing) the $150-ish Vortex optics are about 80-90% as effective and reliable as those costing 3X as much. Perhaps that's only my own ignorance, and I just don't know what I'm missing. But for now I'll go Vortex and tuck away that extra $300 to put toward my next pistol, rifle, or ammo puchase.

Very pleased with Vortex quality thus far. A Navy guy I went shooting with today often uses an AR with an Eotech. He was grilling me with questions about my Strikefire and was really impressed. Not to imply it'll replace his Eotech...but rather, it'll probably be what he buys for his next build.

I bought a left handed Stag 3 for my wife and it is a great gun. The only thing we didn't like about it was the feel of the trigger. Replaced the the trigger and hammer parts pretty quickly with a drop in trigger unit.
