Assembly is easy with some basic tools ... think of it this way, the Military expects HS grads to be able to assemble/disassemble these rifles while in the field ... so, someone with some aptitude and a basic tool set
If you buy a complete upper/bolt than headspacing will already be set. I'm not sure on the procedure but I think headspace can be checked/set when assembling an upper with the barrel and bolt sourced separately - go, no-go gauges.
My first build took me about 2hrs .. done while reading the build threads during assembly ... my 2nd build took me about 20 minutes
