Default Someone tried to SCAM people by copying my listing.

I was selling this Complete BCM weeks ago on local forum and GunBroker.
Rifle was sold to someone from Reno, NV. He paid full even though the rifle is still with me. He will come and pick it up in 2 weeks time. Nice guy though.

Before he bought it, he asked me IF this listing is mine.

http://www.armslist.com/posts/1034232/wisconsin-rifles-for-sale--new-complete-full-bcm-bfh-16--mid-ar15-very-rare

Told him NOPE. I knew someone tried to SCAM by copying my listing.

The original listing was on GunBroker:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=328692421

Some of you know i live in Vegas, NV. And most of my pictures have wooden floor as the background.

Had nothing to do and bored, i contacted the listing owner..
Here are the emails between him and me, so far:

He replied this morning:

Glad to know you're interested in my Gun. But I must let you know I'm not in Wisconsin at the moment. I'm in Chicago, IL for an emergency. My daughter got very sick and I had to rush down here. Her mom and I are separated so she lives with her here.. And I won't be coming back anytime soon. But I brought the gun here with me because I know I might probably come up with a deal with a buyer and I'll have to ship the gun out from here. So if you still want to have a deal, let me know. Then I'll give out my number and some other things you need so we can talk on Payment and the shipment of the gun will be handled by my FFL dealer here via FedEx or Ups.
Thanks,
Fatai Williams

Lol. He thinks i was just born yesterday. Lol. So i replied him again:

What kind of payment do you take? I can do Paypal gift payment so that you wont have to get any fees. Is the price included shipping?

I will post up if he replies again.. going to play him and get him excited.
Or maybe you all can join, pretend to be interested on the rifle. He will be super excited as he thinks he gets some fishes with a stone. lol
Search "Complete BCM" on Armslist.

I think my most "loved" scam is when you ask $XXX.xx for something being sold and the person says they'll send a check for four or five times that. Then they claim that because their moving, they want you to use the remainder to pay for the shipping as well as send the rest to some moving company that's never been heard of to help save them time......oh, the check is also some random bank from some unknown country.

My favorite is when they list something for a ridiculously low price. When I agree to it, I tell them that I will fly out to them the next day with cash to pay for it and then all of the sudden no more responses.

Tell them... "Great I am in Illinois on business right now. I will meet you at x location to inspect the rifle and pay with cash." I bet suddenly he'd be back in Wisconsin.

Someone tried that with me on ebay-After he had bid on my motorcycle, he sent me an e-mail stating that was what he was doing. When I asked him some questions, he shut down and closed his ebay account. I was out the fee ebay charges for a sold item, but that was it. Pissed me off more than anything.

Did you report the fraud to Ebay? With a fraudulent buy they will normally wave the fees and allow a relist.

That has been a few years ago, before people were doing it so rampant, so they didn't have the policy in place at the time, so no they didn't. Actually, I beleive I was the first person that had happened to according to their customer service rep. I just chalked it up to experience. The bike wasn't worth too much, so it wasn't a big loss. Just pissed me off that someone would try something like that. He used plain copy paper to print the check from, so I didn't try to cash it. I just took it to my bank to see if there was anything on it they could try to track down the guy with. The e-mail correspondence was from London England, so I struck out with finding anything on him, and the routing number didn't even come close to any bank in the US.
