Some Range Time

Took the Spikes midlength out for its 2nd trip to the range today.

Heres the stats: Spikes Tactical Complete Mid-Length 5.56/.223 Upper Receiver assemblies. Each Features: M4 flat top upper receiver, Machined from a 7075 T6 Mil-Spec Forging with Mil-Spec Type III Hardcoat Anodized finish, T-markings, Spike's logo and M4 feed ramps. The Barrel is 4150 Chrome-moly Vanadium Alloy, M4 barrel extension, Chrome chamber and bore, 5.56mm NATO chamber, 1:7 Twist, Magnetic particle testing, with a Phosphate finish. Government Profile with Mid-Length gas system. The Barrel is Phosphate finished under the F marked A2 front sight base. The M16 carriers are Chrome lined with a Mil-Spec phosphate finish. Forged Mil-Spec carrier key, Chrome lined, attached with Grade 8 hardware and Properly staked. MP tested bolt, Each extractor is fitted with a Mil-Spec black insert and Mil-Spec Viton o-ring. Double heat shield M4 hand guards. A2 Flash Hider. Includes Spike's ST-T2 Tungsten filled Heavy Buffer

My impressions: Its a very nice upper for the money. Built well and looks good. The combo of being a midlength and the heavy buffer make for smooth shooting and accurate to boot. Throw in a reworked trigger and things only get better.

Some of his friends ready for a good time.

All by himself

Rapid fire from the slung position. Three shot groups. Not my best but it was getting late in the day and it was hot.

I'm not an AR guy, but that's a sweet looking rifle. Please tell me what that thing is under the handguard. I've seen them, but I haven't a clue.

Thank you. Its a Magpul AFG ( angled fore-grip ). It really helps me with proper handling of the AR.

Thanks, I absolutely couldn't figure it out. When I was in the service, ('67-'71) the M16s were still pretty new and weren't being used in the civilian market. They've really come an incredibly long way.

Very true. Ther eare a lot of people making some good products for the AR. I really like the AFG compared to the vertical grip Im used to.
