Here you go - Trigger Pull

Cliff notes version - a single stage trigger breaks when pressure is applied. A 2 stage trigger has some take up as pressure is applied, then breaks.

A single stage trigger should surprise you when the gun goes bang. You squeeze until you hit the point where it breaks.

A two-stage you squeeze until it 'stops' or hits stage two. Then it behaves as a single stage.

Good points and bad points to both, depends on the purpose of the weapon.

So a two stage is like a built in safety type thing then? Just wondered.

A single stage, or a tuned single stage, is fine for a 16", SHTF, Urban Battlefield type of rifle.

A two stage, like the RRA drop in, is more tailored to a longer range, Target/Varmint/Tactical Support Rifle.

It all depends on the type of rifle you are building.

We need some more information on the rifle you are planning to build to be able to advise further.

Already built, and I am pretty sure it a single stage, I was just curious as I have seen several posts about single and two stage.
