Simple sight question.
Got a DPMS flat-top with gas block rail. Gas block rail is slightly lower than receiver rail. Just want to know some good flip up sights to put on it. Has been difficult to find this answer elsewhere. Some mid-priced sights are preferrable. All feedback accepted. Thanks.

You can use a Magpul MBUS for a rear sight and a gas block height front sight which must be metal or it will melt. We sell a few different types that will work for your setup

It's not a simple question. Find out what DPMS recommends. They use a commercial height rear sight so you need something on front to compensated for that and the short gas block rail.

If its an DPMS Oracle, the Midwest industries gas block height flip up sight will work.

I think the MBUS is a good choice but it is milspec flat top height so the front sight has to be equivalent in height to a F marked FSB. My point was if he had a DPMS commercial height rear sight he had to be careful.
Anyway not a simple question and not enough info in the OP.

There is enough elevation in those sights to make up for any differences between MilSpec and Commercial upper receivers.

I don't have first hand experience with the Midwest industries gas block sight but the ArmaLite low gas block rail sight comes up .04" shorter than needed for the MBUS rear or any milspec rear. Unscrewing the post enough to zero at 50 yards caused the post to wobble. A fix is Bushmaster's .04" taller post. DPMS plays the same funky game as ArmaLite and Bushmaster which is why I pointed it out. Nice if Midwest has increased the post well a little to offset this. I have my suspicions at 50 yards though.

Well, the guy I bought it from said it is a sportical, but it has the forward assist, so i figure it is really an oracle. Hell, I probably sound like an idiot on here. I'm not new to guns, but I am just learning about ARs.

It's a good question, and a lot of people make the mistake of buying the wrong front sight for their gas block
