I have a Bushmaster 16" A2 Heavy Barreled Carbine and I was wondering... What's a good scope/sight to use for medium to long distance shooting? I'm rolling with iron sights and they just aren't doing it for me. I am on a budget of $200 and would like a scope or red dot. Any suggestions? Thanks.

For that price range a PrimaryArms Micro Dot is the best choice. PrimaryArms also offers some 3-9x and 1-4x optics as well.

You can get a bushnell red dot or a Vortex StrikeFire (which is what I'm considering at this point). Though I have heard much about PrimaryArms as well.

The Primary Arms Micro Dot MJ mentioned is a great choice for the money. I have a couple of the similar Bushnell TRS-25 red dots that have held up well also but they're probably not as robust as the Primary Arms and certainly not as the Aimpoint Micro.

Lots of good choices in scopes, but harder to come in under $200. I got at Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 recently that's done real well so far and was on sale for $100. Cheap but I think it's gonna do just fine.

I put a Vortex Strikefire on a few weeks ago. Zeroed easily and seems well made and sturdy. You can find them online for around $150.

NCStar has some good scopes and red dots for well within that price range.
I think they're under rated.

I just got the NC Star Mark III sniper scope from Valhalla Armory and it was like 199.99. It comes with a quick disconnect and has three variations of red and green reticle built in. it also has a red dot on top for close range! I zeroed it in and then took it off several times to make sure it stayed on zero and it did. I have also heard a couple other people who have them say they stay zeroed!
