Sig M400 a decent platform?

So I am at work and I text my wife that the LGS is having a sale on Sigs and the M400 is on sale. She texts me back you should go pick one up! I'm not sure if it's the pregnancy hormones or what but is the M400 a decent AR platform. Oh and I'm looking at getting it in 5.56. Am at work so I can't do much research right now.
Thanks for any info.

I looked at 'em when researching a recent purchase. There's some varying versions I think (even some at Walmart). But you can get a milspec M400 w/ MOE, 1:7 FN barrel, and checking in at about 6.7lbs... for about $1000, which strikes me as a really solid deal.

I wouldn't pay a whole lot more than that, and I'd be sure to review the specs on any individual gun. But if that's about what you're looking at, I like it.

The Enhanced Flat Dark Earth is just Awesome. Love how they color matched the receiver. Sig also puts a ambi mag release. Just wish it was mid-length gas system. I would say the Sig M400 is good to go.

I love my sig m400! Payed a little over a grand which is a perfect price for the reliability and quality of the design. Coming up on my 15,000th shot through her and not one hiccup!

Also, I really hate wobbly weapons and sigs new design to eliminate the movement between the upper and lower is amazing! I would say the trigger pull is a little heavy but can be easily fixed. Good luck on your buy and remember sig doesn't know how to fail!

You do see good M400 prices here and there but for $1K there are better choices.

So would a BCM or Colt and they're really the M400's competition. I have nothing against the Sig but would go for the sure thing myself, especially when price is about the same.

I see your point. When our sig rep spent a week with us letting the copper fly i fell in love. I bought the 551 just because its cool lol

The M400 does seem to be a good M4gery with some nice extra features like the ambi QD sling mounts. Overall I like the design and the FDE model with Magpul goodies looks great. I did give it and the Colt LE6920 some thought when I built my BCM a few months ago but wanted the pencil barrel and midlength gas (and again, the sure thing). No doubt for some the M400 might be a smart buy.
