The second link looks like a very good bbl. It's CHF and chrome lined. Research barrel twist and bullet weight. I'm sure you'll find that 1/7 will be plenty accurate for most ammo you will be using.

imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1391520309.797092.jpg Here's a chart that shows optimum twist for bullet weight. I found it on here (posted by Axe I believe) a while back. A lot of companies are making 1/7's now, but just as many 1/9's. I have a 1/7, a 1/8 in .223 Wylde chamber and a 1/9. My guess is you will never shoot heavy enough loads to optimize the 1/7. My 1/8 is a tack driver with 55 grain loads. I hand load 40 gr varmint rounds, so the 1/9 is the ideal twist for those.

Unless you are trying to shoot the wings off if a fly then you should be able to achieve pretty reasonable accuracy with any of the 3 twists.

Great info guys. I wound up going for this one

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers/psa-16-m4-premium-ssk12-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html

I will be doing this a lot and decided when I go high quality I will do a complete build instead of joining an upper to a lower. I will get an 80% lower on this one and then I will have a good mid level rifle which will do for a while.

I too ordered from PSA just this past Weekend. I got their Premium "Madness" model at a ridiculous price of $289 and I see they're already sold out. Who woulda thunk. Also got their Lower Build Kit with Magpul Furniture-minus the Receiver.

Deciding between a Stag or Spikes "Pirate" Receiver. By Tomorrow I might change, there's so many to choose from as a Roll Mark.

seems like most places carry a boatload of 55 gr 223/556 ammo, other grain weight, not so much. so 1 in 9 makes sense if your ammo availability/price is of concern

Apparently melonite barrel treatments have been around for a while in pistols. Glock treats their barrels and slides with the same type of treatment with another name. The coating is applied at high temperatures. Glock kills two birds with the coating, it is also the last step of the hardening process which gives glock barrels a rockwell hardness of 64.
