Have any of you folks done this?

If so, what was it like?
I'm sure it was fun, a blast,etc., but I am curious about stuff like:

*Accuracy at short range (25 yards)

*Recoil - worse or better than the standard .223? About the same?

*Quality of the gun you used. Any jamming?

I understand that Olympic Arms makes the .45 cal version of the AR-15. Does anyone else? What's your first-hand experience with the quality of these guns?

The AR-15 in 45acp was made by LaFrance Specialties. Totally dedicated to and designed from the ground up as a 45acp...no interchangeable parts.

100% reliable...very light recoil and shoots 3 inch groups @ 100 yards.

Designed as a LEO carbine to replace discontinued MP-5's.

There is a civilian legal semi-CAR with a 16" barrel...I have sold a few and shot one customers quite a bit...SWEET just begins to describe it !

Olympic makes a 45acp upper using their barrel & bolt and modified magazines. There are other alternatives. I have their upper and one of these lowers:





From YellowLogicLow cost marine electronics and AR-15 Style 80% Completed, Sten Mag Lower at YellowLogic They do require machining but it's worth it. 15 rounds of 45acp (hollow points or 185 gr flat nose) fit into a Sten mag. A lot better solution than Oly's mags. There's also cncguns.comCNCGUNSMITHING - www.cncguns.com - Home of the AR45 who make a 45 lower that uses grease gun magazines.

You might want to look into Bushmaster's .450 Bushy. It's not .45 ACP, but it uses a 230 gr. bullet and it slings it up around 2500 ft/s.
