Default Scrapy Gets Some Love. . .

I thought I'd share some pleasantness with my fellow shooters.

After one of the worst days in recent work history I came home to a package at the back door. . . ended up being something for the girls from the out-laws (in-laws ). Cool for the kids though!

Then I hear the sound of the UPS truck! YIPPEE ! ! ! I was expecting a couple small orders for accessories and such and I always like to open stuff up, but today the box was much longer than anything I had ordered. . . A SURPRISE ! ! ! I looked at the label and it was from Del-Ton ! ! ! I sent them Scrapy after not being able to get enough pressure out of the barrel assembly to cycle the rifle completely. . .

Not the manufacturers fault. I ordered the part kind of by mistake. I read in the description "Dissipater", so I thought it would be set-up like my Bushy: 16" barrel/carbine length gas, however this design was a 16" HBAR with a rifle length gas system. I was skeptical right away, but had everything to get it going (it is a pieced gun ya know!)*.

Right away the gun was experiencing short strokes and cycling issues, so I called Del-Ton and met Laura. She is such a great person and was helpful from the beginning, even though it has been a few months since the purchase. We corresponded back and forth with trials and test performed by myself. After a few, the rifle was still not cycling completely, so she offered for me to send the entire upper in!

They tested it in the shop, by someone who knows a lot more than me about AR-15s and came to the common conclusion that not enough gas was getting through the tube and into the system, so she offered to replace it, with a different set-up. . . FREE OF CHARGE! ! ! She asked what I wanted as a replacement. I told her I didn't care as far as profile, just a rifle length gas system and to surprise me. She sent the beautiful 20" w/ a light weight profile.

Del-Ton review:
1.) Awesome barrel!
2.) excellent service
3.) Fast and quality build with the parts provided.

Always good to hear a positive report, I will look at Del Ton next time I build. I expect you are itching to get to the range and see how well it functions.

In the mean time Diggs put the rifle back in the safe until you have some range time, your starting to scare the kids "why is Daddy carrying an AR everywhere he goes"

PS, I like your forward assist, was it part of your upper or an add on? If an add where did you get it?

Hey, hey, Scrappy's lookin' good! Glad Del-Ton took care of you, Diggs.
The biggest issue with assembling an AR isn't so much getting the parts together right - it's getting the right parts together.
