Default Researching a scope.

I posted this in the optics forum but it doesn't seem to get much traffic and since I need one specifically for the AR I figured this is the best place for it. Please remove the one in the optics section if you need to mods or move that one here because there was some good info in it. Sorry for double post.

I read some of the other threads on the subject and got some good info but didn't find many links and had a few specific questions. I already have a Vortex Strykfire red dot but I am now looking for something with crosshairs. Would be cool to have one with lighted reticle and regular ones in case battery goes dead. I think I am looking for 1-4x as I won't shoot much over 300yds probably not much more than 200. I don't want to spend any more than $250 but cheaper would be optimal. I found this hunting around and wanted to know what you guys think. I will be mostly target shooting with this one. Also if you could suggest more that would be great. I do not want a red dot in the center of crosshairs as it tends to cover the target and I already have the Vortex

I read a couple of mixed reviews here about Barsaka but wanted more input or if there is anything better for the money.

I also really like the reticle in this one and the price seems good

This one looks good to me too but I am ignorant to the difference

Check out the Nixon P 223 I think it is. Has a BDC and I think Iit's 4 with illuminated dot. I used one at the range and was VERY impressed. Guy said it was around 15 0-200, but he got it on sale for 99. I'd stay away from barska completely.

Default Researching a scope.

Spend more and get a Leupold or Burris. Or even more and get an ACOG. Barska makes a low quality product.

IM not a fan of cheap optics. They tend to be....welllll cheap. The lowest I'll go on a plinker type scope are the nikons.

I don't think I would put a barska on a super soaker. I doubt it could handle the recoil.

My preferred optics are from niteforce nikon aimpoint vortex trijicon, in no particular order.

I can't recomend bushnell or burris I've seen too many of em die at the local range. I know folks have success with them but they are a skip to me.

I just ordered a Nikon Prostaff 5 3.5-14X40 today from Opticsplanet for $279.95. I'm going give it a try on a 264 lbc AR.
