Replacing my Bushmaster A2 target 20" upper
Hi everyone. I am using the iPhone app so my search on the topic returned a ton of threads. Finding what I am looking for however is proving to be a bit like me trying to solve all of my 5th grader's word search puzzles - tedious : (
Anyway, one of the things I hope to get out of these forums is some direction in my quest to replace my A2 20" upper with a flat top A3 upper. Hopefully this will open up more options for optics. Another option I want to explore is the 300 blackout cartridge. I don't really have the opportunity to use my 20" .223/.556 barrel to its full potential. Most of the time I'm plinking cans in the desert at 50 yards and it seems like the 300 blackout might be a lot more fun. Any thoughts? |
How about using that 20" Flat Top and getting a Scope. You said 50 yards. Get a scope and zero it at 100 yards and start shooting 150/ 200/ 250 yards Get a 3-9 x40 Nikon Scope p-223 or Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 I'm just saying your not using your rifle now to it's full poetical. 300 black out is hard to find ammo for and cost alot.

Maybe post a pic of it?
Personally I would keep the A2 if you can afford to. You never know when your shooting opportunities will open up in the future and it would be a bitch to have to say "I wish I still had that!" My .02, YMMV |
if you dont reload your going to not be happy at all with the blackout. hard to find ammo and when you do its more expensive than 223/556
an A3 means no M4 cut ramps. A4 has M4 ramps. if you use a A3 the barrel ramp cut doesnt matter but if your reciever is A4 with the cuts you can only use barrels that have the extensions cut with the M4 ramps. both have rails on top. |
