Brownell's does sell good products but I think that is also a reflection on the quality of the RED X ARMS barrel.
Glad the rifle functioned well for you and better weather would certainly be desirable.
I like to set up my rifles with parts and techniques in an attempt to wring out the full accuracy potential of a given barrel, even if some of my anticipated shooting ranges might be fairly close and informal.
Such things as free-floating the barrel and removing the stress caused by the front sight taper pins, (in favor of set screws) as well as a great trigger and quality optics, etc. can really be helpful in getting those bullets to impact the target close together, no matter what the target distance.
Sounds like you had a pretty good time.
Let us know what you find out about them making a mid-length gas barrel, be great if they did.
