Not sure why you want to take it off but the front sight has to come off, then it unscrews from the nut.
I wouldn't recommend doing it.

Exactly what mountainmain13 said. Don't take it off. You don't need to clean it. Looks like a Yankee Hill Machine rail.

if its gotten wet or its real humid just spray some of the aerosal CLP stuff in the holes of the ff tube.

I think it's good to know your gun man ... Take that sucker off lol so there's 2 pins the need to be forced out on the bottom of your sight/gas block they only come out one way ( look for the bigger side drive twards that side) ... I'd recomend doing it over a 2X4 drill wholes(they make blocks meant for this I made my own with a dremmel that has a sight block shape) so the pins will come out... It's not super hard to do just gotta be a little handy

The rail is super easy to remove many rails use that system look up installing yhm rail on YouTube

I really like working with my hands and don't mind fixing things

Like everyone said tho i don't recomend it if your worried about it, you don't need to clean under your rail really ... But it's really cool to know how to do it I've torn down my rifles down to lowers and parts a bunch of times(3times in one day twice lol ) don't ask. But if you got the cash to replace broken parts if you brake some do it! It will be fun

Also you are supposed to use a special tool for that rail I use a castle nut tool normally works decent i also have punched it with a screw driver and a hammer you will get mard marks but I don't care I consider my rifles tools they will get scratched eventually(use something to align your rails together I use a riser or sight and tighten them good it will hold everything together when putting on rail)

Combat you are right, but it might not be the best idea for a novice to try to do. Some of those pins are pressed from the left an some are from the right. He can run the risk of destroying the barrel if not done right. I agree that one should know every centimeter of his weapon but not learn the hard way either.
