Also, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't SS109 62 steel cores? I've always understood the accuracy potential of those steel cores was 2-3 moa due to manufactured inconsistencies.

what are you 10 round strings looking like?

Do you expect your groups to get better with a few more rounds?

Would you consider getting your barrel melonited?

Have you considered 68/75/77 OTMs?

Inquiring minds want to know!!

The trigger feels heavier than it should. It feels more like 4.5 than 3.5. Maybe i need more time than one range session. Im not quite ready to yank it out till i got a couple hundredrounds down range.

They are indeed steel cored. Thats why i wasnt expecting anything and just made a few for break in. Im going to build more ss109's for next weekend and do some trials with em.

I totally expect much tighter groups with faster powder like 748 under the smk rounds. I was using varget and have never really gotten steller performance from it in 223 cartridge. Some of the group size is just me as well.

I dont think meloniting will add anything and totally risk destroying accuracy.

Im using 69 and 79 grain matchking bullets from sierra. Ive got some of the hornady im going to load up. Going through various powders 748 seems to be a consistant performer. i dont typically like factory ammo. Mostly because i dont like being tied to an iffy at best supply source

ugh...not happy to hear this.

I just got the Timney 4lb because I was worried the 3lb would be too light. I got it for my next build but maybe I'll throw it in the BCM and see how it is now.

When your total focus is on trigger pull breathing sight alignment with a live round in the pipe all triggers i percieve as much heavier than they really are.

Very true...this is why I'm dying to put a Jewel in my Rem700, but I've been dealing with BRD at the moment.

Anyway I just put the Timney 4lb in my BCM and what an improvement!!! I'm very happy with it for the purpose of this rifle- SHTF battle rifle. It's not a precision build like yours so it's a great trigger for me but I can see why you might want something better for that beast.

You gotta go all the way to TX for deer??? I'd think you'd just step out your back door in WI!

My wife's friend is a wayback hippie chick from CA (lived in a commune then a VW van, etc.). After 20 years in ID she's still wacked out.
