I have heard the same thing. If the SHTF do you want to take a couple seconds to take the dust covers off, or do you want a bunch of broken mags? I haven't had one separate on me yet, but I also keep the dust covers on. You could also check out the Lancer L5 AWM mags. They are built like Glock mags, polymer body with steel feed lips.

Dint say but I believe they are the m2 without the window. Not much of a difference between the 2. M3 has the finger cuts in the front and the ribs are not as wide. The m3 with the window has all that and a orange mark that makes it easier to see how many rounds are left. I was going to get the ones with the window but it will most likely be dark so I can't see in the window and I will be to busy shooting to check. So I decided to save $3 a mag.
