planning an AR purchase sometime soon...
When I get my own place, and hopefully a newer ride, I'll add an AR soon after. I'm hoping by my birthday this year, September 23.
Now, the question is, I pretty much have it narrowed down to an RRA or PSA. What I would LIKE to have is mil style sights and full AR 15 configuration (most of my training was done with an M16A2, so that's what I'm comfy with)
Pros and cons? Both are great makers I hear, but I don't know much about civilian AR's.
Uses: general plinking and fun, maybe informal competitions. Nothing with prize money or anything like that.

Depending on what level of accuracy would determine if you want chrome lined or not. Not familiar with the uppers on either, but I like my PSA lower, other than an ugly roll mark. You can do an entire AR from PSA for about $800, including irons if you look a bit.

I don know much about RRA, to be honest, but PSA is fantastic as long as you can get over the lack of customer support (unless they finally hired on some people for phones).
I used a PSA rifle kit, so I got all PSA parts minus the stripped lower, and it has performed flawlessly thus far. Upper came assembled properly, with properly staked screws and the HP/MP tested parts. I can't speak highly enough about their product, it's a high-grade AR. They don't cut any corners.

Do what i did, i have a PSA lower on an RRA upper! I personally love the PSA rollmark and think that there lower is great, plus i got it on sale! I got the RRA from a friend and it work s well, only had one problem and it was rapid fire with tulammo other than that its amazing!

ARs may be in short supply by the fall (election year) so you may want to move your timetable up. Or do a build and run out NOW and at least get the stripped lower receiver. On a budget, PSA would be the place to start looking.

Trip, I put together an RRA AR last fall around Thanksgiving starting with an Armalite stripped lower that I got at my local gun shop and then using mostly RRA parts including an RRA 16" A4 complete mid-length upper. I've been very happy with the way it has performed. It's been very accurate and has been 100% reliable so far.
The basic rifle with iron sights and one 30-round mag. was $815. I also have a 2-7X32 optic in a RRA cantilever scope mount that can be easily dismounted and reinstalled without losing zero.
The Warranty and Performance Guarantee given by RRA is excellent too!

Unfortunately that's not much of an option, I have geater needs at the moment. Need my own roof over our heads and eventually I HAVE to have a better vehicle. My truck is okay, but I don't know for how long. I said in another thread, its shifting funny and making noises I don't like. Plus it rides like a paint mixer over 60, and I'll be making trips to Jackson MS every other weekend (about 3 hours away, depending on how you drive)
I did price out a kit through PSA, I really liked it and loved the price, I think I came in under 800. And it was set up exactly how I wanted.
This would also serve as a SHTF rifle.
RRA seems to be quite a bit higher in price to me, as far as getting what I want. The last time I looked at their site, I think the only one they had that I liked was a competition rifle for a little over 1k.
I'll have to open up two windows and do some side by side comparisons.
I did handle an RRA a while back and it felt great, but I think just about any AR will feel like an old friend.
