It does, mjkeat. I found the picture a while back in a thread somewhere about what occasionally turns up when LE agencies get M16s from the federal government, some are very old. In this case someone in the know at a LE noticed this rifle and brought it to the attention superiors. They didn't have the heart to put it in the field so keep it locked up safely.

Anyway, with a serial number of 000177 it must be one of the first 8000 the Air Force took delivery of around 1961-62, well before the AR15 was designated as the M16.

Looking at it, it is amazing shape after 50 years. I'm impressed with the fit of the receivers, which look like they remained a matched set over the years. As I remember upon close inspection they thought only the bolt and a few small parts had been replaced.
