This IS NOT a political thread!
This thread is about an option for you IF you believe that a new ban is coming and you are worried about not having the cash at the moment to beat the rush.
Having a lower receiver on the books ahead of any pending legislation is a way to allow you to build one over time*.
*as always - it needs to be stated that this statement ASSUMES that all existing weapons and receivers will be grandfathered in, which is what happened last time, but there are those among us who feel that somehow door-to-door confiscation is going to happen.

My apologies. I tried to keep my comments as closely related to bans as possible. It's hard to stay that concentrated without talking about things in a broader sense.

I understand. My comment was in general, not at you. We have political discussion, but it's behind the curtain.
If this thread deviates and goes down that road, it will be moved and no longer viewable by the public, thus negating it's effect.
No harm done.

Outside of that you DO NOT need to max out the credit cards or take out a loan to get a "top tier" AR.

However, if a person doesn't mind kicking in an extra hundred or two you can have a top tier build. And still bring it in under $1K. Oh well that's moot, we're talking lowers right now.
Excellent thread as usual, JD!

My teleprompter broke!
Actually I was campaining back in NC, well I went back to NC for a couple weeks to visit my 90 year old Mom. Gotta get back more often to see her.
I will say it was interesting being in a battleground state. Very interesting. Hope my home state and country are smart enough to fire the guy not doing the job as Clint said. Oops, getting too close to the line, back on topic...
Nice to be back, BTW!
