My question is, how difficult for a first build will it be to get the upper without the bcg and the charging handle. And then install them separately this will be my first build and first dealing with an ar outside of just shooting one. Any help would be appreciated. And I saw the blemished lower but they sold out before I could purchase it.

About 10 seconds to put in the BCG and charging handle
its literally 1 pin , pull the handle back pop out the BCG and drop the charging handle .
PSA sells 90% of their uppers without the BCG and CH , however if you decide to use the .22lr kit you will still need a charging handle

That's exactly what I did with my last upper (from PSA). I already had a Daniel Defense charging handle and ordered the BCG from BCM. I would have got the BCG from PSA but they were out of stock when I ordered.

No issues mixing and matching as purehavoc already said.

Ok so I found the upper at palmetto state armory that I'm going to order. But I found one for a little more and it's pretty close in price. The only difference is the other brand is surplus arms and I don't know much about them to know if that's a smart choice. Also I was thinking if I go with the one from psa was it has a standard hand guard and the one from surplus arms has a 4 way rail. I'm stuck in deciding because there's too many decisions. So I'm looking for opinions. To the guys with standard hand guards how many ended up purchasing a 4 way rail later on? Plus if I'm not mistaken isn't there the ability to buy hand guards that attach to the rail?

Get DD, Spikes or PSA LPK.

Don't look.. i tell u the prices. Lol.
DD is $80 shipped from Aimsurplus (none in stock)
Spike's is about $70-80 shipped from Aim, Rogtac or Joebob.
PSA varies as they usually bundled with grip, stock, buffer tube assembly and trigger guard. Basic LPK is about $40-50 i believe.

Lol thanks. I have a particular stock I'm looking at so if they have one with a buffer tube assembly and then I can get my stock separate. Thanks for the pricing.
