Painting my AR

I am thinking about painting my AR either Gray or FDE. What is the benefit of painting it and what color is the most useful?

Benefit is that it looks cool. The color is up to whatever you want. I just paint the roll marks on my lower or the model on my shotgun

Just make sure you use the right paint so it doesn't wear off too easily, gets on your hands when it heats up. Try epoxy paint.;)

Aluma Hyde is pretty awesome ... You just have to let it cure/ dry for like, ever.

I use paint on a lot of my AKs, I use hi-temp engine enamel that is good to 550F.
Here is the paint I use it is a bake on paint.

I have done a test on this paint after curing, I used acetone on a scrub pad & couldn't get the paint to budge.
