Optics with fixed front sight

I'm pretty new to the "AR Game".
I have a s&w mp 15 with a fixed front iron sight. I want to put optics but not sure if the front sight will be in the way. Any advice or suggestions?

Go for it, you wont see it.......or you could put a red dot and co-witness.

My old Colt SP-1 and my Bushy dissapator both have fixed fronts and ACOGs. no problem.

Bingo

My EOTECH is zero'd with the red dot co-witnessed right above the fixed front sight post. If I want precision I simply "dot the I". For rapid close quarters it will not matter.

If it bugs you, you could replace the fixed front for a gas block and add a flip up front sight but personally, I think that amounts to "tacti cool" without any real tactical benefit.
