I want some magnification, I was thinking 1-4 power would be great on an AR.

So my friend is selling me his Vortex Strikefire Red/green dot with 2x magnifier for $85 comes with original box and accessories. He has only been mounting it on a 22lr rifle. The only problem is that the green dot soemtime work sometime doesn't, but red dot is perfectly fine. Good deal?

I was considering that one, it's 149.00 brand new with doubler. I was looking at the burris because its calibrated for 5.56.

Bleh. Go for gold or go home! Save your money for an L3 eotech holosight or trijicon red dot, they'll cost u a couple bones but that's a far cry from a holosight w/a magnifier or an acog. You won't be disappointed.

A Trijicon w/ a RMR mounted @ 45deg would definately get you where you need to go. A 1-4 w/ a red dot mounted @ 45deg would work well too. You can pick up a decent 1-4 for roughly $300.

This! I would love to get a Trijicon 4x30 for $300. I love those thing but I can't justify paying $1000+ for my AR15 that only cost $800.

I said you can get a decent 1-4 for around $300. I never said you could get a Trijicon for $300. You can pick up a used Trij 1-4 for around $600-700.

I might be able to get the Burris extreme 1-4x24 half off from Burris. I talked to a rep and she told me that LEO get a one time LE discount on Burris optics. I've never used a Burris but it does and has everything I am looking for to mount on my RRA. The illuminated reticle is a plus, but not needed. I've also looked into ATN scopes, 1st gen night vision for $400.00 is descent.
