Default Operation 1st AR is a go!

Looks like I'm going to try my luck at building an AR. Wish me luck!

Good luck Chuck. The forum is full of helpful people and info if you need it. How about posting up some details? Don't forget pictures.

Chuck - If you can turn a screwdriver and use a pin punch set, you won't need luck.

The AR platform is very easy to work on - once you dive in, you will quickly find out that there isn't too much too the platform.

Post pictures and if you run into any problems, hit me up with a PM and I will square you away...

Chuck,I hope you can find a parts kit. I've had a RRA parts kit with the NM trigger on backorder since Oct. 2008.

Here is a pic of the lower reciever. I'm amazed at the variety of AR15 stuff out there so I was thinking about getting one of the complete rifle kits to assemble. Any suggestions?

Thanks

What kind of weapon are you wanting to build? What will the purpose be?

The plan is the occasional day at the range wife and kids willing. I'd really like to take this chance to actually build a weapon from the ground up since I've never done that before. So I would like to put together a reliable, decently accurate weapon.

Thanks

Oh by the way, is there a way I can edit the above attachment? I made a smaller image but it will not let me remove the one from above. Thanks

Chuck - There is a couple of threads of folks who did the same thing in the AR-15 section.

One member, junho, started out with NO KNOWLEDGE of the weapon and built one hell of a good gun. His thread is full of links, questions and answers, and finally his range report. Definitely check out that thread.

The guys here ALL believe in knowing your weapons and building an AR is a great way to get familiar with the weapon and what parts do what...

Let me know if you need any help...

JD
