Maybe nothing. Maybe a lot. They may just think your a hunter or something, or they may think you are the next Charles Whitman.

IF YOU DO, just make sure you have a video camera, and have a friend videotape it to from the sidelines. Cops seems so much more civil when they are on camera.

Unless they've seen Full Metal Jacket, I bet half the people on here and 90% of the people in the world don't know who Whitman was anymore.

Please. don't carry a gun to "make a statement."

You may be technically within your legal rights, but we'll all pay the price for it.

Just to make a statement doesn't do much for the cause. Carry on with your business.

Carefully learn the state law.

I watch FMJ about once a year, never get tired of it. Hell, I think I met half those characters in basic or 'Nam, including Whitman!

Why would you want to?

Bad idea, attracting attention to gun owners.

Guns are little like penises. Everybody has one, or wants to cuddle with someone that does have one, but no one wants to see the darn things in the mall.

I dont know how many of you are from or live in Louisiana but there open carry is legal and common place ESPECIALLY in and around New Orleans. The only time you need a permit is if you conceal, as long as it is visible, no harm no foul. Also you can have a loaded cocked and locked 1911 on the dash and all though stupid, totally lawful.
The law says your vehicle is an extension of your home and therefore covered by the castle doctrine. During traffic stops I was asked to leave my sidearm on the seat while my lisc. Was ran and a speeding violation issued. Far cry from where I live now . Been here a little over a year and still not used to it. I've been told they have one of those dumbass 2 or 3 step laws , havent looked it up (no need to carry a gun in the thriving metropolis of Andrews In.) But it's crazy how the gun laws differ from one state to another.

Come to MI, where most conceal instructors get the law wrong... and even my personal attorney who is a nearby communities prosecutor missed an extremely critical point of law. MI laws are SCREWY
