I m needing a carbine length gas tube for my poly build , I found one but its a full length is it the same O.D. And I.D As the carbine ? and is there any reason why I couldn't cut it for a carbine length barrel ? Thanks in advance

It is the same O.D and I.D. But that would be a lot of work. First of all you could not cut of the end that goes into the Carrier Key because it has a flare on it to properly seal the gas between the Gas Tube and the inside of the Carrier Key.
If you cut the other end (Front End) off that goes into the front sight housing you would have to plug the end of the tube with something that will withstand the heat. As well as relocate the gas tube roll pin hole in the correct place. Too much work in my opinion. You would be better off to order one or buy one.

Ok thanks for the response not the response I was hoping for since I already won the the stupid thing on gun broker ill see if I can flare it with my punch or tubing flare . Thanks again

the other issue your going to have is the gas port diameter on the carbine tube is bigger.

Ok thanks Jon I just looked at my flaring tool and I believe I can flair it ok ad cut it with my pipe cutter . Do you think I can drill the gas tube to be the same size ? Yes it's a lot of trouble but at this point it's either try or throw away 20 bucks .:-(

why not just trade it for the right one??

anyway measure the gasport on the barrel that will give you the right diameter to ream out the tube if needed

I think you can do what your thinking no problem I have a few flare tools from my days of turning wrenches on cars, and more of those are small. It's a possibility with some mechanical know how.
